Last month Balenciaga confirmed that they were parting ways with their creative director Nicolas Ghesquière.Ghesquire had worked at Balenciaga for 15 years and had totally re invented the houses appearance. The dated Balenciaga was now a hit success with the modern day woman.
This lead on to who would take the reins on the creative role of the house. Many names were in the mix such as Christopher kane, Alexander Wang and Bouchra Jarrar. All of these designers work in a modern way and wouldall have been suitable for Balenciaga.
On the 30th of November Alexander Wang had been confirmed as the leading man for the role. Karl Lagerfeld himself said there was noone better for the job.
He will debut his first collection for the house during the fall/winter 2013 collection in Paris in March. He is also continuing to work on his own line in New York.
Apparently he was chosen for the job due to his modern views on the fashion world and because Balenciaga want to take a turn into a street wear brand.
Rumour has it that Balenciaga will be launching a Couture line in the near future. This has not yet been confirmed by the house but Alexander Wang as said himself that he would take it as a possibility and thinks he could do the job well.
